Windows are integral elements of liturgical design because their beauty and visual appeal extend both internally, within the liturgical space, and externally, as a decorative element visible from well outside the place of worship. Sacred Spaces designs and creates windows using both clear and stained glass. Stained glass is the result of using small pieces of colored glass that are arranged to create a pattern or picture. Originally, stained glass required coloring liquid glass with metallic oxides and hand-blowing, or it could be produced by “flashing,” in which pieces of clear glass were coated with thin layers of oxide-infused liquid glass. A third option, commonly called “Cathedral glass,” is produced by rolling glass, which is then cut according to a template made of your window, which is in turn designed according to the pattern or picture selected, and cut to maximize the effect produced by elements of light and tracery. Modern technology has produced a new option, in which the glass itself may be painted and sealed to produce precise, vibrant colors and execute highly detailed works of window art.
